Foul Matter

   Posted by: rettstatt   in kaimira

“Foul matter” refers to the versions of a book that have been superseded by revised versions or by the final thing. Basically, once the book is finished, all previous versions are “foul matter.

foul matter - kaimira book one: the sky villageQuite a term you’ve created there, Publishing Industry. I approve.

Here is the most recent “Foul matter” from the book I’ve been slaving over.

And because this post would not be complete without a pun on “foul,” here is a fowl matter.

And when is the book considered ‘finished’?

I’m not sure when it’s considered “finished.” Is it the moment they wrestle it from my cold, dead hands? Or the moment you see it on the shelf and realize you can’t go in to do a few final tweaks…
